Welcome from the Dean of the Farmer School of Business

Hi, I'm Jenny Darroch and I'm the Dean of the Farmer School of Business. It's my pleasure to welcome you. Even though this welcome is virtual, I hope to have the opportunity to meet you in person and get to know you as a student here. The choice of which school to attend is one of the most important decisions you will make and one of the most complex. I was faced with a similar decision not too long ago, when asked to become the dean here. I was seeking a school with a great track record of success with faculty whose focus was on preparing the students to be beyond really for the careers, a place that I would be proud to call home. I found all that and more here at the Farmer school. From the moment you walk into the building, you will know that this place is different, it's special. But it's not just a building. It's a community, and it's filled with some of the most talented faculty and students in the world. You'll hear more about them later, including our groundbreaking first year integrated core curriculum. With every first year Farmer school students hits the ground running, learning key business skills and working on a real issue with a business client. But learning extends far beyond the classroom and Farmer school students compete and frequently when intercollegiate business competitions that test their skills and knowledge against college students from all around the world. And speaking of around the world, did you know that nearly three quarters of all Farmer school students include an international learning experience as part of the Miami education. In a business environment that's increasingly global cultural competency is indeed a key skill set. Add to that the connections our students make with our more than 45,000 alumni. Through membership in business student organizations, and class projects and our speaker series, you'll quickly understand why our students graduate beyond really for personal and professional success and remain close to the school, the classmate,s and our faculty long after the Miami years.
